Airbnb Guests and Discounts

Since we are in the hospitality business it’s always nice to offer a discount when a guest initially asks for one right?

NOPE.

While many may argue with me about this topic, the only way I am giving discounts is if there is an orphan day that they want to book before or after their stay.

Otherwise, I do NOT give discounts if the guest asks in their initial request to book due to my learned experiences from the past.

This isn’t to say that discounts are a bad idea. In fact, its nice for the algorithm to put in a weekly discount or last minute discounts on your end to help you listing optimization. However, when it’s on the guest request its no bueno.

Here’s why:

  1. They most likely will trash your place.

  2. They will constantly be a pain to deal with while staying with you.

  3. They will leave a bad review. (*anything less than 5 stars is a bad review)

So don’t under any circumstances do it. That’s how I feel about it. Your place is worth it. Your hosting is worth it.
